Students that are older than 15 years old can apply to volunteer. International students under the age of 18 go through the same application process. The only difference is instead of a social security number, they need to bring their student visa, passport, and other identifications.

Follow the steps on the How to Apply section, and if you plan to start or bring your own club/organization into this network, click on the “Join the Network” page and fill out the google form there.

The VA Hospital provides a wide range of tasks and departments that you can select from when you become a volunteer. Some of the tasks include working in the GI Lab, Patient Transport, Administrative Support, Physical Therapy Volunteer at Spinal Cord Injury, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Clerical/Computer Support, and many more.

Depending on your schedule, the volunteer application process may take 2-3 visits to the hospital. A lot of it you can complete at home such as the application form, TMS Training, and TB Test. Only the in-person orientation and the in-person interview takes place at the hospital, where you can schedule beforehand. The best time to volunteer would be during the summer. When you have a week or two dedicated to volunteering, you can gain a lot of experience through constant exposure to the hospital staff, workers, and patients. The VA Hospital is open to volunteering during the weekdays, Mon-Fri, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. If you have any time during the week, feel free to volunteer!
