Thank you for your interest in joining the VeteranCare MedLink Network. Our goal is to connect students with meaningful service opportunities at VA hospitals while building strong communication and healthcare skills.
Please Sign up on this website, so we can welcome your and your school into our growing community.
For those of you who want to start your own initiative in your own school, please email info@veterancaremedlink.com to schedule a Zoom meeting so we can guide you through the process.
A - Download, print, and fill out the volunteer packet (no need to visit the hospital to pick one up).
B - Get a QFT-TB test at any nearby clinic and obtain a hard copy of the results.
C - Complete TMS Training online (~2 hrs). You'll receive two certificates: Privacy and HIPAA and VA Privacy and Information Security Awareness and Rules of Behavior. (Instructions on the back of the packet.)
D - Turn in your completed application packet in person at the Long Beach V.A. Voluntary Service Office. Bring: packet, immunization records, TB test results, a photo ID, and social security number.
E - While you're there, schedule your department interview — use the binder in the Volunteer Office to call your preferred department and let them know you'll be coming to their location. If they're unavailable, book another time.
F - Once your application is approved, attend in-person orientation at the Voluntary Service Office — Wednesdays at 8:45 am (orientation at 9:00 am).
G - Pick up your volunteer ID at the Volunteer Office after orientation. You're done!
ATTENTION *
For international students under the age of 18, the process will be the same as above, however, you will need to bring other forms of identification instead of your social security number, such as your passport, student visa, etc.
